Context:

The area covered by the LAG Durance Provence is at the confluence of the Durance and the Bleone rivers. It includes 14 municipalities (21 265 inhabitants in total). It can be described as a network of small rural communities organised around the main towns that are Château-Arnoux Saint-Auban, Les Mées, Peyruis and Malijai. These four urban centres concentrate 65% of the population.
A significant part of the area’s strategy is to enhance the quality, diversity and accessibility of the services offered to the public. This is linked to the rural characteristic of the territory, in which inhabitants are mostly relying on cars to circulate and where small villages don’t necessarily offer many types of services (need to physically go to the larger towns to have access to basic services such as doctors and health services in general, administrative services, shops, cultural activities, childcare services …)
Demographic evolution of the territory in recent years has pointed out the need for implementing active and dynamic actions promoting social cohesion. We can also foresee a number of issues to come (such as climatic change, energetic precarity, ageing population, need to attract younger families …) that require the implementation of new, attractive services to the population.

Project idea summary:

We are looking for cooperation partners to work on enhancing public services as well as access to these services. Recent social and demographic evolutions observed in Durance Provence call for implementing new actions towards social cohesion.

Objectives:

The objectives of our environmental strategy are:

Objective 1: To increase services offers to the population
In order to favor social links between inhabitants as well as between generations, we seek to improve the variety and quality of services offered to the population.
For example, such initiatives could take the form of: creating new services and developing existing services (early childhood services; child care; multi-services spots; health centres; co-working spaces; mobile services platform …)

Objective 2: Improving the mobility network and accessibility to services (as well as access to employment)
For example, this could be done through: developing soft mobility alternatives (by arranging bicycle paths, car-pool spots, electric car charging stations …, by encouraging / supporting investments in bikes, electric and/or low carbon emitting vehicles …); setting up alternative accesses to services that help avoid the need for transport (using new technologies, dematerialisation, video-conferences …); Setting up new transport services (walking bus, transportation on demand…); developing multimodality; Improving existing services (by developing or mutualising them etc) …
