Rural Bioeconomy Portal

“The bioeconomy comprises those parts of the economy that use renewable biological resources from land and sea – such as crops, forests, fish, animals and micro-organisms – to produce food, materials and energy” (European Commission, DG Research and Innovation). Innovative and resource-efficient bioeconomy can offer economic opportunities to producers and enterprises in rural areas while preserving biodiversity and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

This portal forms part of the work of the ENRD Thematic Group on ‘Mainstreaming the Bioeconomy’ and focuses on the challenges and opportunities for bioeconomy in rural areas. Use the buttons below to explore the portal's contents and share your experience.
