EAFRD funds were used for the establishment of a mobile computer classroom, which helped the citizens of Kuldīga district acquire computer skills and increase their competitiveness in the job market.

Citizens of Kuldīga district took the opportunity to use IT to learn computer skills, keep up-to-date, and engage in other training programmes. Their competitiveness in the job market and quality of life in the countryside have been enhanced.

The project aimed to: i) deliver computer training close to student's homes in rural areas; ii) increase local people's competitiveness in the job market; and iii) raise awareness amongst local people and build their overall confidence.

To implement the project, the following equipment was bought: 13 laptops with Windows Vista, Office 2007, Tildes birojs software, an overhead projector, screen, wireless router, and a printer.

People took the opportunity to use IT to learn computer skills, keep up-to-date and engage in other training programmes. The population's competitiveness in the job market and quality of life in the countryside has been increased. The project delivered a mobile computer classroom with 12+1 computer places enabling quality training close to home.

Following regional reform in Latvia, availability of services in rural areas has suffered whilst economic pressures are increasing, and it is very important to offer quality training closer to home. The mobile computer classroom provides the flexibility required in rural areas to enable more people to access training.
