Summary

This project comprises a parallel Leader project providing IT training and services within community spaces in two villages. Training is provided in IT, English as well as other subjects. The trainings contribute to enhanced local cooperation.

Background

The cultural centre and community house based in the project community spaces are currently underused, therefore they could to be filled with lecture series or trainings in order to help both adults and youngsters to expand their knowledge, and to provide them with the possibility to spend their leisure time in a constructive way. In two villages, the project is built on a parallel Leader project with the purpose of acquiring Information Technology services needed for IT training.

Objective

The objective of the project is to organise free trainings and lectures that can enhance and widen the local population’s knowledge and give them the possibility to remain competitive on the job market.

Main activities

The following trainings and lecture series have been planned to be organised in all three communities. There is provision for twenty hours of basic Information Technology (IT) training, thirty hours of English course for beginners and thirty hours English course for advanced learners. There will be twenty hours training on macrobiotics and on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and five lectures on psychology.

Results & Benefits

There have been nine sets of training with 225 hours of lectures and an increased number of attendees, the IT and language courses proving very popular. The co-organised lectures coordinated by the communes helps to develop new working relationships and the possibility for further cooperation between the local population, amongst both participants and organisers. The series of trainings contribute to improving the region's quality of life by supporting the economy through knowledge-transfer.

Lessons learnt

It was essential to combine two Leader projects in such a way that made it possible to provide a comprehensive IT training package with appropriate IT tools. Due to the lengthy examination of the application, the schedule of implementation had to be revised. The cooperation between the three communities has strengthened the working relations between the actors involved.
