NRN INFORMATION

The National Rural Network of Luxemburg

The National Rural Network (NRN) of Luxembourg encourages the sharing of information among rural development stakeholders, thus improving the sustainability of their results at national and European level. The NRN has been operational since June 2008.

It is an integral part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development which is the Managing Authority (MA) of the Rural Development Programme (RDP).

The strategic objectives of the NRN are to develop the sharing of information and experiences among rural development stakeholders; to strengthen the competence of rural development actors; and to promote their contribution to national and European networks.

The aim is also to encourage collaboration amongst all stakeholders of RDP measures (farmers, environmentalists, municipalities, LAGs) with a view to promoting the development of integrated projects (multi-sectoral or transversal in character) and involving several axes of the RDP.

Network Participants

Members of the network, including public and private bodies, were appointed by the Ministry for Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development. They represent diverse rural interests, involved in the implementation of the RDP.

NRN Activities

An initial action plan was instigated when the network was set up in June 2008. The plan focused on general actions to be implemented: communication through networking activities and the creation of publications, support to rural actors through trainings and seminars, coordination and specific actions for LEADER such as support for transnational cooperation.
