NRN INFORMATION

The Czech National Rural Network

The Czech Rural Network identifies actors involved in agriculture and the rural arena so it can provide them with training for implementing rural development. The Czech Rural Network has been fully operational since November 2008.

The Network Support Unit of the Czech Rural Network is located within the Ministry of Agriculture, which is also the assigned Managing Authority (MA). The work programme of the National Rural Network (NRN) is devised and approved by the national Coordination committee on an annual basis. It provides a general schedule, outlining the sequence of activities and refers to the central and regional liaison offices of the rural network.

The identification of actors involved in agriculture and the rural arena is one of the main objectives of the NRN, in order to anticipate their needs and provide them with training on the implementation of the Rural Development Programme (RDP). Other objectives include supporting the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the RDP; the establishment of an effective RDP information system and its implementation; and enhanced publicity for the NRN.

Network Participants

The network consists of organisational units (liaison offices) at regional level (NUTS3 and NUTS4). In addition, membership/participation involves other governmental institutions: ministries and sub-ordinate organisations; non-governmental organisations - such as the National Network of Local Action Groups (LAGs); individual LAGs; farming organisations; the Association of Forest Owners; the Centre for Community Organisations; the Association of Local Authorities; the Agrarian Chamber; agricultural universities, schools and many others.

NRN Activities

NRN work programme content has prioritised training for NRN partners and other actors; the promotion of both the RDP and the NRN itself, as well as the dissemination of good practice. These priorities are typically addressed through: meetings, workshops, presentation on individual events, web sites and a newsletter.
