The climate within the LAG is typically moderate continental with four distinct seasons, mild and wet winters and warm, but not hot summers. Part of the territory of the two municipalities is included in Natura 2000. The region includes the highest peak of the Balkan mountain - Botev peak (2376 m), the Maragidik peak unique by its shape and beauty, the National Park "Central Balkan" and the reserves therein "Steneto", "Dzhendema", "North Dzhendem" and "Kozia Stena". The region is relatively rich in water sources. Tourism is an essential element of the implementation of the sustainable development principles within the LAG. Developed tourism types are eco-tourism, hunting, cultural, historical, mountain, culinary, horse riding, religious, etc.
