The territory of LAG Sandanski coincides completely with the territory of municipality of Sandanski, which is the largest one in Blagoevgrad district. It is situated amidst the majestic Pirin mountain and mountains at the Greek border Slavianka, Ograzhden and Maleshevska. The LAG occupies big part of the extensive Sandanski-Petrich Valley with picturesque vale of the Middle Struma river. E79 main road and the international railway line Sofia - Kulata - Athens pass through the territory of the LAG. The municipality of Sandanski is bordered by six Bulgarian municipalities (Municipality of Petrich, Municipality of Strumiani, Municipality of Kresna Municipality of Bansko, Municipality of Gotse Delchev and Municipality of Hadzhidimovo) and includes 54 settlements - 2 towns and 52 villages.
