Innovative village
Financial challenges in municipalities, globalization and modernization of life have had a negative impact on population structure and service production in rural areas. Services recede further away and the range of both public and private services decreases. This spiral that diminishes services has widespread effect on livelihood locally. Innovative Village searches locally executable models to break this negative cycle and to strengthen the know-how in villages.
Preparatory phase(02/2011-08/2011): • Locate & commit around 10 small rural municipalities or former population centers in consolidated municipalities in central Finland to the project. • Find international partners (ideally villages) with experience in similar challenges regarding service production & consolidation of municipalities. • Map the existing information from these target areas & facilitate workshops to discuss the needs for services of local residents. • Produce a funding application for an international Leader project. Implementation phase(01/2012-12/2014): Innovative Village mixes together very different villages in local & international idea workshops. The project brings forth good practices &finds solutions to produce local services jointly with local residents.
