To Establish International Structures and Regulations for Children's and Family Adventure Racing
As a large part of the attraction of adventure racing is the discovery of remote rural areas, effective and responsible development of adventure racing is synonymous with the development of effective and responsible tourim and youth activities in rural areas. Our cooperation project aims at the etablishment of International Structures and Regulations for Children's and Family Adventure Racing. Céüze Sport Nature is a non profit making association base in the Frech Alps which developped an expertise in multi-sport activities for children. Since 2000, we organised an adventure event for 100 children from 7 to 17. Startinf as an event for local children, it has gradually grown to draw children from all over France, with a support of local, regional and national governments.
Although there is a great variety of adventure races and events organised by many different organisations around the world, there is virtually no official structure for this rapidly growing sport, nationally or internationally. Individual organisers are isolated unable to benefit from each other experience. Building on a foundation of 11 years of experience in the field of Children’s events, we wish to initiate wider international cooperation in this area so as to enrich and enlarge the sport. As one of the nine countries present at a meeting on the international organisation of Adult Adventure Racing, held at the Euro Meet in Annecy in Oct 2011, we are aware that there is an increasing demand within the sport world wide for such cooperation.
Our organization will visit our partners in the Czech Republic and Canada in the early part of 2012 to establish the viability of the project. Our partners plan to bring delegations of children and experts to the International Junior Adventure from the 16th to the 21st of July 2012 in the French Alps. After this event, we will lay down provisional plans for regulations and structures and a series of further events over the next two years to test our ideas. Throughout 2013 and 2014, each of the partners will organise an event in their country and attended the events in the other countries. Over the two years we aim to evolve and refine the proposed regulations and structures and enlarge the number of countries participating in the project.
We have launch a LEADER project with the Czech Republic and Canada and would like to find other organisations who have competence in these areas to join us and add their expertise to this project. LEADER funding is available to both non profit making and commercial organisations in 18 participating european countries and will cover up to 80% of the projects costs. We urge any organisation with proven competence in the field and an interest in developing Adventure Racing to take advantage of the opportunity offered by the LEADER program to held build a viable long term international structure.
